SAJFS served by two staff members:

Executive Director, Rabbi Tamar Malino
director@sajfs.org

Rabbi Tamar Malino was ordained by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in May 2001. She has worked as a congregational rabbi for 8 years, serving Congregation Beth Am in
New York City, and Temple Adat Shalom in San Diego. Prior to arriving in Spokane, she also worked as the Director of Jewish Life at the Peninsula Jewish Community Center in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is happy to begin her work as the executive director of Spokane Area Jewish Family Services, and is inspired by the commitment and longevity of the Jewish community in Spokane, and its desire to always care for those in need. Tamar lives on the South Hill with her life partner, Rabbi Elizabeth Goldstein, and their four children.

Spokane from Israel fourteen years ago. Before coming to the United States, she trained as a science teacher and worked in the National Museum of Science in Haifa where she variously served as manager of the outreach programs, created science curricula for the school system, and edited a children's science magazine. While living in Spokane, Iris has taught Hebrew and Religious School at Temple Beth Shalom, and worked at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture as an education coordinator. She loves interacting with our senior clients, and enjoys organizing our JFS cultural programs. Iris lives on the South Hill with her husband Yair. She is especially proud of her two grown sons, as well as her youngest who is a student Moran Prairie elementary school.

Meet the SAJFS Board of Trustees, 11 committed volunteers:

Leslie Huppin
, President
Volunteering and doing mitzvot is the right thing to do and having Jewish Family Service in
Spokane
is a wonderful opportunity to give back to all our seniors for the years of service, love and knowledge they have given me.

Kathy Golden, Treasurer
I grew up in
Spokane
in a family that instilled the values of community service and give-back. I am very proud to be on the board of Spokane Area Jewish Family Services because it gives me the opportunity to help the entire Jewish community that has meant so much to me over the years.

Faye Klein, Secretary
I have lived in Spokane for almost 30 years, and I am very grateful for the friendship, kindness, and love shown to my family by the local Jewish community. I welcome the opportunity to help others in good times of celebration and in times of hardship and illness. It is important to me to assist in providing a lifeline of friendship and caring to those in need through the work of the Spokane Area Jewish Family Service.

Marti Martin, Immediate Past President
I have been involved in leadership roles in the Spokane Jewish Community since my arrival here in 1991 and served as SAJFS president for three years. I have a strong dedication to the mission of this agency. This community has provided so much for me over the past two decades. It's a pleasure to help others as a way of saying thank you.

Clint Rogel
I was born, raised and bar mitzvahed in
Spokane. The Jewish community here has always been very important to me. Volunteering on its behalf is a way I can show my appreciation.

Mary Noble
Being part of Spokane's
JFS Board is another opportunity to support members of our wonderful Jewish community; seniors who may have been part of creating the community I've been fortunate to join, and others who happen to need some assistance. For me, it's a great blending of my professional life as a physician with my personal values and priorities.

Carla Peperzak
I have been volunteering all my life (almost).  Originally I joined the SAJFS board as a liaison of the Board of Congregation Beth Haverim. However, I am now just one of the
Board Members. It is a pleasure to be serving with such wonderful people and to be part of an organization which serves those in need.

Lesley Samuels
When we moved from Chicago to the Spokane area 6 years ago I was thrilled to find that there was such a vibrant Jewish community here, and was honored to be invited to be on the Board for the Spokane Area Jewish Family Services.  I am very proud of what our organization has to offer to our community, and the opportunities we have to make a difference in the lives of our seniors and families we serve.
