This film is based on the memories of Marga Spiegel. In her WWII narrative published in 1965, shehow courageous Catholic farmers in southern Münsterland hid her, her husband Siegfried {named Menne} and their little daughter Karin from 1943 until 1945, thus saving them from deportation to the extermination camps in the East. The film tells this story of survival with a sense of the absurd in daily life, while at the same time creating a memorial in honor of these silent heroes.

Showing will be followed by a brief discussion with Miriam Abramowitz-Ferszt, a Holocaust survivor whose personal story is echoed in the film.

This documentary follows the immensely popular Israeli music group, the Idan Raichel Project, as it tours Ethiopia. In his music, Raichel - of European descent - fuses African and Middle Eastern musical traditions, creating a truly Israeli sound. Not all is so simple, and during the tour, the Ethiopian musicians must face issues of identity and heritage. The contrast between the musicians jamming with locals and meeting future Israeli immigrants highlights their sense of displacement. However, the blend of traditional and contemporary musical
traditions, Hebrew and Amharic lyrics, reminds us how diverse the Jewish world is.
